Welcome to counseling! It's true, therapy does require effort, but the results of your hard work will bring you closer to the life you want. I provide a warm, understanding place for you to share your struggles and your triumphs. The best part is where you discover new and exciting things about yourself. My approach You don't have to spend years (or even months) in counseling to see progress. I use practical skills-based interventions such as CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am EMDR trained and use Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which is successful in resolving trauma and reducing symptoms quickly. My focus I currently work with clients 16 and older. I have experience in treating Substance Use Disorder with co-occurring mental illness. I also enjoy working with families supporting a loved one living with addiction or mental illness. I also treat anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and trauma and stressor disorders. My communication style As a counselor, I am committed to staying present with you in your process, reflecting my observations, and together we can seek a deeper understanding. As you become ready, I can offer challenges to prompt introspection, new ideas, and even embracing new skills. My journey to mental healthcare I come from a family of helping professionals, including social work, nursing, and teaching. A career in counseling is a way to serve my community by helping others become the best version of themselves. When individuals are well, the community grows and thrives. My goals for you Assessment tools are important, but you are the expert on how you feel and think. Everyone has strengths that can be used to invoke change. Together, we will brainstorm how to use those strengths to address problems and invoke change. My first session with you During our first session, we will get to know one another. It can include why you are seeking counseling, your experience with counseling, and any reservations.
