I believe therapy should be a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes—not judged or told how you “should” feel. I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, substance use, relationship concerns, and major life transitions, including those who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, IFS, DBT skills, and narrative therapy, tailoring treatment to your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we’ll work to better understand the patterns that are keeping you stuck, build effective coping skills, process difficult experiences, and develop a stronger sense of confidence and self-trust. I especially value creating a therapeutic relationship where you can be honest about what you’re experiencing—even when it feels messy, uncomfortable, or difficult to put into words. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you move toward where you want to be. If you’re ready to better understand yourself, work through what you’ve been carrying, and create meaningful change, I’d be honored to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy doesn’t have to feel like sitting across from someone who is simply taking notes while you do all the talking. My approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative. I want you to feel like you can show up as your whole self—without having to edit your story, have the “right” answers, or pretend that everything is okay. When we work together, you can expect me to listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and help you make sense of what you’re experiencing. We’ll look beyond the immediate problem to understand the patterns, beliefs, experiences, and emotions underneath it. At the same time, therapy with me is not just about talking. When appropriate, we’ll practice concrete skills and identify realistic steps you can use between sessions. I tailor therapy to you rather than expecting you to fit into a specific approach. I draw from CBT, ACT, IFS, DBT skills, and narrative therapy, incorporating different strategies based on what you need and where you are in the process. Sometimes therapy may involve processing something painful from your past. Other times, it may look like challenging an unhelpful thought, learning to tolerate an uncomfortable emotion, setting a boundary, or figuring out what you actually want. You can also expect honesty and gentle challenge when it may help you grow. I believe you can feel both supported and challenged in therapy—you don't have to choose one or the other. Most importantly, you don't have to come to therapy with everything figured out. You can come overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, confused, or simply knowing that something needs to change. We'll start there and work together from that point. My goal is for therapy to be a place where you feel understood, develop a deeper understanding of yourself, and leave with both insight and tools to create meaningful change in your everyday life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Wondering what actually happens once the session starts? There’s no script you have to follow. A typical session begins with a check-in about how you’ve been doing since we last met, what has been coming up for you, and anything that feels especially important to talk about that day. From there, we’ll focus on what is most relevant to you—whether that means processing a difficult experience, working through a relationship concern, understanding an emotional reaction, challenging unhelpful thought patterns, or practicing skills to manage anxiety, stress, or difficult emotions. I’ll ask questions, offer perspective, and help you connect the dots, but you won’t be expected to simply sit and talk while I listen. When appropriate, we may use specific exercises, coping strategies, or practical tools that you can take with you outside of therapy. Some sessions may feel lighter and focused on problem-solving, while others may involve deeper emotional work. We’ll adjust based on what you need that day rather than forcing every session into the same format. Toward the end of our time together, we’ll usually reflect on what stood out, identify any tools or ideas you want to carry into the week, and discuss what would be helpful to focus on next. You don’t need to prepare a perfect list of things to discuss. You can simply show up as you are, and we’ll figure out where to begin together.

I believe access to quality mental health care should be as straightforward as possible. I accept a variety of major insurance plans and work with clients to make the process of accessing therapy simple and transparent. I currently accept many major insurance plans, including: • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) • Blue Care Network (BCN) • Priority Health • Tricare • Aetna • UnitedHealthcare • Medicare • Medicaid and applicable Medicaid health plans Coverage and benefits can vary depending on your specific plan, deductible, copay, coinsurance, and whether your particular plan includes out-of-network benefits. I recommend verifying your mental health benefits and coverage before your first appointment. If you are unsure whether I accept your specific insurance plan, please reach out with your insurance information and I can help clarify whether your plan may be eligible for coverage. I also understand that insurance information can feel confusing. My goal is to make the process as easy and transparent as possible so you can focus on what matters most—getting the support you need.
