“Melanie challenges me to think in new ways and to try approaching situations differently. It's helped immensely in my relationships and social life. I appreciate her background in addiction counseling, so we can work one some deeper issues and patterns of mine. She approaches codependency issues with care and encourages me to also stand up for myself and point of view. I've worked with her for almost a year. I can feel and see the difference. I also love that she uses pop culture references when describing things! It's fun and helps me fully visualize the behavior or interaction she's describing.”

Getting to know Melanie Grace Gerald

Are you looking for a safe space where you can be understood and supported? If the answer is yes, please read on. My name is Melanie, and I hold a Master's in Social Work from New York University. My strengths-based approach to therapy positions you as the expert in your own life. I welcome people struggling with mood disorders, trauma, grief and loss, complex medical conditions, and addiction disorders. Together, we will work to break down the issues that have grown so big they feel unmanageable. I hope to help you begin to feel empowered and centered. You know the problems. I can help you develop the solutions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Because of my years working in hospital environments, I prioritize the development of goals that will guide our healing work. My style is conversational; I love to use story-telling and seek to aid people in the development of spiritual and self-care practices. I will also supplement the work done during sessions with articles and video resources.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
