Getting to know Melanie Kohn

Over the span of 13 years in this field, I am grateful to be a healer for diverse populations. My path to understanding my generational trauma has aided to attune with others who want to break unhealthy cycles themselves. I have compassion for those who want to rescript their identities/narratives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I understand what it’s like to feel unsure and anxious about how to manage the pressures circulating around you, or pressures that are self-imposed. I aspire to debunk the myth of perfectionism, as I see the “not enoughness” has become pervasive in society from all ages. As a way to lessen the pressure, I enjoy using humor and metaphors, along with boundaries and challenging with compassion, to emphasize safety, trust, rapport, and respect in this space.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Relationship ruptures can wreak havoc on one's sense of self, so the therapeutic relationship we have is modeled as the blueprint for repairing your relationship with yourself and others. During sessions, we will unravel relationship dynamics and identify family belief systems to pause the cycle of generational trauma, and understand the roots beneath the symptoms you are experiencing.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Ongoing session: $170 for 50 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront
