Hi there, I'm Melanie! My name is Melanie Roum, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in the state of Louisiana. I earned my Master?s in Social Work from LSU School of Social Work. My approach I like to provide individualized care based on your personality, background, and needs, and I offer various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Much of my work is Christian based. I'm looking forward to working with you! My focus I am a Christian-based therapist treating individuals ages 18 and up for various mental health and life concerns such as depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and substance use. I have extensive experience guiding individuals into recovery from traumatic events including childhood sexual, emotional, and physical abuse, motor vehicle accidents, domestic violence, and weather events. My communication style I am a great listener in order to get to the root of the issues. I am often direct but gentle and will offer more than one way of looking at a challenge if needed. You will find grace, kindness, and a lot of encouragement to believe in yourself and your ability to overcome anything. My journey to mental healthcare Ever since I became a Christian, I wanted to help people recover from hurtful events. We all have some form of suffering, and I have been privileged to walk with many out of darkness into a hopeful present and future. I hope that I will be able to assist you as well! My goals for you We will start with a broad goal that usually becomes more focused based on our conversations together. I will check in with you from time to time regarding the quality and direction of therapy. Adjustments to goals and approaches can be made with direct and honest communication. My first session with you I will explain confidentiality and exceptions to the law. Then I will ask you to give a general overview of your reason for seeking therapy.
