Melanie Stanley-Soulen, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
Besides being a seasoned individual, I describe myself as a lifelong learner and a spiritual seeker. The term 'army brat' certainly applies to me! The first five years of my life shaped who I am today. I was born on an Army base (Fort Knox, KY) and lived on three more before my father retired while we were in Heidelberg, Germany. He and my German mother then moved us to South Alabama. I began kindergarten and graduated from high school with the same people. I am still learning how these two very different phases of my life shaped an appreciation for diverse populations of people. After attending five institutions of higher learning, I am still in progress. I graduated from Huntingdon College with a BA in Psychology and Christian Education. Then I earned a Master of Divinity degree from Emory University, Candler School of Theology. In addition to these completed degree programs, I attended Iliff School of Theology, Tarleton State University, and Texas Christian University, Brite Divinity School to further my education in the field of psychotherapy. After being a single adult, a married person, a parent of two adult children, and Mimi to six grandchildren, I continue to study the life stages of emotional and spiritual development of people—a field of study that is always growing and becoming more inclusive. Every person's story is significant and to be treasured. All of us together continue to weave the splendid tapestry of common unity—community. I look forward to hearing yours.
