Getting to know Melannie Bannerman
As a Caribbean-American, treating mental health is a stigma in my culture. I wanted to break those barriers of trauma, depression, and lack of proper coping skills, and show that it is okay to take care of every part of you, including your mental health! Since obtaining my Masters in Social Work from Louisiana State University, I have worked with children and families, adults struggling with mental health issues, parents, and those with chronic illnesses. This has created a broad range of experience for me to learn how one's mental health is affected in all different areas of life and different dynamics. This has allowed me to create a safe space for clients in navigating their mental health journeys. I meet my client's where they are at, and create a judgement free, safe space for them to express their feelings in a comfortable way. We will work hard to meet your goals, and I will cheer you on along the way. My ideal client is someone who shows up. Simple as that. If you took the step to make it here, that is good enough for me, because that tells me you believe in yourself enough to be better, and I am here to help!
