Melinda Zappone, LMHC

Psychotherapist
560 White Plains Rd, Ste 215, Tarrytown, NY
I have just completed Level 3 Training in Relational Life Therapy and advanced to Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with membership in the International Association of Trauma Professionals. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University and am currently licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in New York (LMHC). I have completed LifeForce Yoga Practitioner Training, Somatic Experiencing certifications, and several Trauma-Informed Yoga/Care certifications. I have been dedicated to giving back and have worked on community projects for 20+ years, as well as developed a free resource company, Everyone Needs You Always (ENYA). The ENYA mission works toward democratizing therapy so that the tools can be used beyond the ability to pay for professional help. I take a strength-based and relational/person-centered approach in my role as a trauma therapist, trauma educator, writer, coach, and project leader. This means I highly value what I call full-body listening. I listen to individuals by logging the sense of what they say as much as the content. I come curiously to others and say, ?Let's work together to understand this life you've been living and come to a wiser knowledge of who you are.? The approach is relational, collective to what all humans deserve, and personalized. I feel we stand in desperate need of a new paradigm-no one needs fixing; we need tools to learn ourselves, to uncover the lessons our pain may hold when we moved on too quickly. The relational perspective I take means I am not an expert; the question is, ?How are we as a team going to approach the personal classroom you hold inside?? The shift from individualistic to relational thinking applies organizationally and on a systems level. I am a collaborator and value communicating from an ecological perspective. We are all on this planet together. We are individuals who understand ourselves more completely in relationship. So it all matters.
