Melissa Buckley, LCSW

Psychotherapist
IL
Hey there! I'm Mel B, a 32-year-old who wears many hats - I'm a wife, cat mom, licensed therapist/self-care coach, iced coffee enthusiast, and Swiftie. My mission? Empowering and supporting millennial women to live their most genuine and fulfilling lives. I specialize in stress management, helping millennial women navigate big life changes, practicing self-care, effective communication, and establishing healthy boundaries. My goal is to help you make good decisions, embrace feel-good moments, and let go of toxic relationships, unrealistic expectations, and perfectionism. When working with clients, I take a trauma-informed approach. That means I provide unwavering support, zero judgment, and guide you through tough conversations at your own pace and comfort level. I value humility, humor, compassion, and collaboration in my work and relationships with clients. If you're in search of a therapist who is down-to-earth, relatable, and genuine, but also knows her stuff and can help you through challenging times, I would be thrilled to meet you and discuss how we can work together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer a personalized blend of therapies tailored just for you, combining structured and expressive approaches to help you achieve your goals. * Structured therapies: I employ mindset, solution-focused, and trauma-focused therapies to uncover your strengths and self-perceptions. Together, we'll explore solutions to address your concerns or obstacles. * Expressive therapies: Through narrative writing, journaling, and role-playing, we'll create a safe space for you to express and release your emotions and hidden truths. * I have an arsenal of electronic activities that I can give you to supplement our sessions. These activities include journaling, meditation, reflections, thought processing, etc.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session together, we'll spend time getting to know each other. Sure, I'll review your intake form with you, but I really want to get to know the woman behind the things that she wants improved in her life. By the end of our time together, we'll decide if we're a good fit and if you want to move forward with services with me.
