Getting to know Melissa Erb

Hi there, I'm Melissa! My name is Melissa Erb, and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in San Diego, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I work with adults and adolescents, specializing in managing anxiety, depression, and life changes. I also have expertise in adoption and foster care. By using various treatment modalities such as Mindfulness Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I meet my clients “where they are at.” This approach allows clients to begin therapy at the pace they feel comfortable with. My approach My approach to therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Depending on the presenting issue, we work together to navigate a path for the client’s progress. I most frequently use Mindfulness Therapy, which focuses on learning how to be more aware of thoughts, feelings, emotions, surroundings, and situations, and to reduce automatic responses. This helps build a shared understanding of the client’s reality, enabling us to collaborate in developing treatment goals. My focus I have found that using these treatment modalities helps adults and young adults facing difficult life transitions. Whether struggling with intimate breakups, divorce, career changes, loss, or financial strains, these challenges can lead to anxiety, depression, stress, and at times suicidal ideation. I focus on helping clients build skills through brief crisis interventions or by fostering a more positive and hopeful outlook in their day-to-day lives. My communication style My communication style is to meet clients where they are and to honor them as the experts of their own stories. I am open, non-judgmental, transparent, and patient. Creating a safe space is most important so clients feel comfortable being transparent without judgment.
