What should a new client know about working with you?

- Therapy with me is a collaborative, culturally responsive process. Your values, lived experiences, and goals are always at the center of our work together. - I provide structured guidance using clinical frameworks—such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Inner Child Work, and somatic experiencing—while remaining flexible and attentive to your evolving needs. - As an Indigenous clinician, I honor both Western and non-Western healing traditions and create a space that values every client’s cultural background and story. - My practice is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and focused on fostering growth, resilience, and healing rather than labels or hard diagnoses.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin with a welcoming first session focused on rapport building, understanding what brings you to therapy, and discussing your hopes, concerns, and history. Together, we review confidentiality, boundaries, and what you can expect from our work. I listen for your strengths, cultural background, and the unique contexts shaping your story. We begin assessment and planning. We pinpoint your goals for therapy, translating your hopes into specific, meaningful objectives. I use frameworks like the SMART model (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) but remain flexible, evolving goals as your needs shift. Your values and lived experiences guide our direction, ensuring your goals are both relevant and personally meaningful. My practice is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and deeply attuned to both Western and non-Western thoughts and healing traditions. I utilize evidence-based methods (such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems), while also acknowledging Inner Child Work, Story Telling, and somatic experiencing), blending these with cultural humility and a respect for your background. Each session provides a supportive, collaborative space for reflection, skill-building, and processing challenges at your own pace. As your journey unfolds, we celebrate achievements and address new challenges, maintaining transparency and adapting the approach to meet evolving needs. I encourage open dialogue about what’s working and what’s not, inviting your feedback to refine our work together. When you feel ready, we process transitions out of therapy thoughtfully, ensuring you feel confident in the skills and resilience you’ve built. My goal is to empower you to navigate life’s challenges with increased self-awareness, confidence, and connection.
