Hello! I'm Melissa, and I'm here to help you navigate life's challenges. If you're feeling overwhelmed by stress, you're not alone. Many of us have faced significant changes recently, and it's natural to feel the weight of it all. I'm a Clinical Social Worker licensed in both Missouri (LCSW) and Kansas (LSCSW), with over 20 years of experience in human services. I've had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, including adjudicated youth, children and families within the child welfare system, adults with substance use issues, and individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. I've now transitioned to providing therapy full-time through telehealth and virtual sessions. My current focus is supporting adults in the LGBTQ+ community as well as anyone facing self-esteem and confidence issues, healing from past trauma, or a life transition. My approach is relatively informal, warm and supportive, and grounded in the belief in the dignity and worth of every person. I often use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), relational-cultural therapy (RCT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), but I'm always ready to tailor your treatment plan to your unique needs. I have also been trained in and am currently seeking certification in EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing). As a young adult, I was drawn to social work out of a desire to help others. In college, I found nothing more fascinating than learning about people. One of my greatest joys is watching clients grow and evolve out of struggle. We all face obstacles, and it's my honor to help you find new approaches to the many and varied problems that arise. My commitment to you is to keep you and your values front and center and to leave judgment at the door. Therapy is a partnership, and I'm eager to partner with you! So, are you ready for this? I'm excited to meet you and consider it a privilege to walk alongside you on your journey. I hope you'll reach out so we can get something scheduled today!
