Hi there, I'm Melissa! Needing help finding a way to tolerate the uncertainty in life? You are not alone. I use researched backed methods combined with genuine warmth and life experience to help individuals reduce anxiety. My focus My specialty has been in treatment for anxiety and OCD, but I also consider my training to be somewhat diverse. I have received training in couples counseling, treatment for children with autism, and I have worked in a substance abuse treatment setting. My approach My approach for the treatment for anxiety and OCD is through a method called Exposure and Response Prevention. This is the gold standard for treatment of OCD. I have an array of other methods and trainings that I use to inform my practice. I tailor the treatment to meet the individuals needs. My communication style Naturally, my communication style is very easy going. When an individual needs or wants to have a more direct style, I can also take that approach. My journey to mental healthcare My journey began as a child observing the differences between family systems. Such as what droves the systems advancements and want hindered the systems ability to organize around well- being. This helped me to be aware of helpful and unhelpful patterns in my own life and then I pursued healing, which fueled by interest in Psychology. My goals for you I help individuals reach their goals by breaking down what is limiting their motivation or awareness. I also take time to evaluate values, or dreams that they have in their life. Then I work to connect motivation, values, and goals together in a treatment plan. Our first session Generally, my first session will be spent building rapport, where we can get to know if we are a good fit. I also like to encourage and offer individuals hope. Reaching out to therapy is an important and valuable decision, but it also can be stressful, I like to meet each person where they are in their journey.
