Melissa Morrissette, LCSW

Psychotherapist
LA
Hi, I'm Melissa. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing online therapy in the Greater New Orleans area. I specialize in, grief, loss, and associated issues like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and burnout. My path has been shaped by both education and lived experience. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of New Orleans and my Master of Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans. I received my end-of-life doula training through the International End-of-Life Doula Association and am a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner. Along the way, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the emotional, psychological, and spiritual layers of illness, loss, grief, and death — and for the care it takes to support people through them with presence and respect. You may be grieving the loss of a loved one, a pet, a relationship, a job or career, someone struggling with addiction, or experiencing a long goodbye. Grief comes in many forms and all of them are deeply real and profoundly felt regardless of what society tells us.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In therapy, I use an eclectic, person-centered approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities to create a treatment approach tailored to your unique needs, goals, and strengths. Through thoughtful questions and careful listening, we will begin building a shared understanding of what you need and how I can best support you. Together we will work to create a treatment plan that is personally designed for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy and what you hope to change or work toward. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your feelings, build self-awareness, and develop your own path toward growth and healing. As we build our therapeutic relationship, I will get to know how you learn, what motivates you, and what works best for you. Together, we will create a collaborative approach that supports your personal vision of a healthier, more fulfilling life.
