Getting to know Melissa Reid

Welcome! I'm Melissa. Are you naturally introspective and seeking clarity on how to better understand yourself, your relationships, and your inner world? Have you always wondered why you feel different or been questioned about being "too sensitive"? Have you faced unique challenges such as chronic pain, neurodiversity, or healing from a series of emotionally unhealthy relationships and friendships? I aim to provide a safe and empowering space to explore the questions about yourself that you have always wondered about. Due to our own life experiences, some of these questions and feelings may have been disregarded or pushed away by others or ourselves. I work with individuals who identify as highly sensitive, neurodiverse, and/or struggling to understand their relationship patterns. I approach therapy as a collaborative co-pilot alongside you. While I will guide you on your journey, I believe you have the power to play a central role in your own healing. For each individual I work with, it is important for me to adapt to your unique needs. I may implement a variety of techniques including attachment work, parts work, acceptance and commitment therapy, behavioral experiments, and mindfulness exercises. From time to time, I may recommend movies or articles to help solidify new knowledge and insights. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from Hood College, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support you effectively. As a clinician, I embrace authenticity, uniqueness, and humor, with the priority of helping you acknowledge that we are all human.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect to leave sessions with me feeling deeply heard and supported. I do my best to make sure I am deeply emotionally attuned and present for my clients. When you leave a session, you can expect to have made a new connection, discovered a new insight, or leave in a more reflective state, asking yourself additional questions or expanding on a connection already made. You can expect a feeling of great relief from letting out all the thoughts and emotions you've been holding onto all week.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I cannot say enough great things about Melissa. She really allows the patient to grow at their own pace and really guides them through their experiences. She is an amazing therapist and really bonds with you.
It is really nice to have a therapist who seems to understand and empathize with Nuerodivergence challenges as well as Chronic pain issues. In the past, therapy felt very serious and heavy most of the time, but Melissa has been very warm and friendly and has made me feel so much more comfortable in a shorter amount of time. I look forward to the work we have started to do together and to hear the knowledge she has to share.
