My journey into therapy is both personal and purposeful. Growing up in a community where mental health was heavily stigmatized, I witnessed firsthand how emotional struggles were often silenced or misunderstood. People were expected to ?be strong? or ?just get over it,? and seeking therapy was seen as a weakness or something shameful. As a result, many suffered in silence. I wanted to help break the silence that surrounds mental health in communities like mine. This commitment led me to earn my Master's in Social Work from Michigan State University, which has deeply shaped the focus of my practice today.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My ideal client is someone who’s just beginning their journey with therapy—whether they’re a teen or an adult—especially if they’re feeling unsure, nervous, or even a little resistant to the process. I feel particularly called to work with people who may not have had access to therapy before, or who come from communities where mental health hasn’t traditionally been talked about or supported. There’s something really powerful about being someone’s first therapist. I take that responsibility seriously because I know that first experience can shape how they view therapy moving forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use a trauma-informed and client-paced approach, always centering the client’s sense of control and safety. In addition, I use a combination of EMDR, somatic interventions, and DBT skills. I find EMDR to be a powerful tool for helping clients process and reframe traumatic memories that continue to affect their present.Somatic interventions are essential in my work, especially with clients who experience trauma in the body—whether through chronic tension, dissociation, or a constant sense of threat. I also integrate DBT skills to support clients in building emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness—especially when trauma has impacted their ability to manage intense emotions or navigate relationships.
