Melissa Wickes, LPC

Psychotherapist
MO
Hi there, I'm Melissa! My name is Melissa Wickes, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Illinois University. I am based in the St. Louis area and work with clients throughout Missouri via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy to meet my clients where they are and help facilitate the process of change. My approach My approach to therapy depends on the needs of each client. I predominantly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps me understand why you view the world the way you do and identify areas you want to change. I believe in meeting clients where they are. My focus I work with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. Additionally, I have extensive experience supporting individuals impacted by the justice system. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life, and sometimes we all need a little help to get there. My communication style My communication style is calm, respectful, and non-judgmental. I want my clients to feel comfortable sharing their issues. I take the time necessary to listen and understand each client's perspective. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been curious about why people think and feel the way they do. I believe everyone deserves to be happy and fulfilled, and I am honored to help anyone I can achieve those goals. My goals for you I work collaboratively with my clients to help them determine their goals. Sometimes people enter therapy unsure of what they want, only knowing they want things to be different. I take the time to ask guided questions that help clients clarify their goals and how I can best support them in achieving those goals.
