Getting to know Melody Bloom

Hi there, I'm Melody! With decades of experience and training, I know how to listen to your thoughts and feelings with empathy and care. I provide psychological and social support for depression, anxiety, substance issues, women’s issues, relationship and job challenges, or whatever is on your mind—using CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), depth psychotherapy, progressive muscle relaxation, breathwork, motivational interviewing, and/or accurate, empathic understanding. Freud called psychotherapy "the talking cure" because when you talk, self-knowledge begins. My name is Melody Bloom, LMFT #33010. My approach I begin our sessions with person-centered counseling and listening. In subsequent sessions, I may employ either cognitive behavioral therapy—using how people think, their emotions, creativity, and problem-solving abilities to help them develop coping skills—or healing depth psychology, a way to explore how unconscious aspects of the human experience influence psychological conditions. My focus I specialize in treating adults with behavioral and substance abuse addictions to support their recovery. I work with adult men and women facing body image issues, depression, anxiety, mood-related challenges, and low self-esteem. I also enjoy dream work! My communication style I use an informal, friendly, firm, optimistic, curious, and encouraging "motherlike voice tone" alongside a clear, assertive, and determined "fatherlike voice tone," which allows me, the therapist, to be mindful of the client and the feelings I may be experiencing. My journey to therapy Simply put, in my 40s I noticed people liked talking to me and sharing the internal workings of their minds. At that time, I needed a new career path, so—voila—I went back to school to better understand myself and others. I earned my bachelor’s and Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University and later pursued a Ph.D. program at Pacifica Graduate Institute with a Jungian perspective.
