*Note that prior to the first session with the provider, LifeStance requires a credit card on file. *LifeStance providers do not accept Medicare or Medicaid insurance. If booking with these, you will be unable to be seen. Dr. Melyssa DePaolo accepts patients from age 4 to 64. Sometimes it may feel like the world is against you, or you're alone and no one will understand. Life can be tough, whether you're experiencing anxiety or sadness, had a recent loss, dealing with adoption and attachment as a parent or child, issues with coming out and/or identifying as LGBTQ, or experienced trauma. Beginning therapy can be scary and uncomfortable, but also empowering. Mental and emotional health is as important as physical health, and it's my goal to support and be a factor for change while you grow into a healthier and truer self. I specialize in trauma, attachment, and adoption/foster care-related issues with children, families, and individuals. Other specialty areas include anxiety, depression, self-harm, grief and loss, eating disorders, OCD, self-esteem, substance abuse, and LGBTQ concerns. I use various therapeutic approaches to meet clients' needs, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy, music and art for healing, CBT and DBT techniques, trauma-focused therapy, and attachment parenting skills. I enjoy humor and creativity while working with people and strive to increase their self-awareness, insight, and personal strength throughout therapy. By creating a healthy, safe, and nonjudgmental environment, I believe individuals and families can begin to repair and heal while overcoming barriers and negative coping patterns that may have failed in the past. Dr. DePaolo earned her Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California and holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Utah.
