Getting to know Meredith Matteo

Welcome! I'm Meredith A. Matteo, a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to individuals seeking support. I take a client-centered, strengths-based approach to therapy. Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, or relationship challenges, my goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. I integrate various therapeutic modalities tailored to your unique needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Strategies, and Psychodynamic Therapy. My approach is collaborative and holistic, meaning we work together to address emotional, cognitive, and behavioral patterns while considering the broader context of your life experiences. I see young adults, adults, seniors, and couples navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety and depression, stress and burnout, self-esteem and personal growth, relationship and family issues, and life transitions. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and have been in private practice for more than 30 years. My focus is helping clients achieve meaningful change through personalized and practical strategies. Therapy is a journey, and I am here to walk alongside you at your own pace. In our work together, we will explore your concerns, identify strengths, and develop tools to help you navigate life's challenges with greater clarity and confidence. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to do it alone. If you're ready to start your journey, I invite you to schedule an appointment. I look forward to working with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I would like anyone who took the time to read my profile to know that working with me means you will be supported by my strong, real-world experience in helping others. My practice is informed by both my academic knowledge and hands-on experience helping those in need.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process for working with clients starts with Intake and Assessment to gather personal history, mental health concerns, goals and relevant background information. If the client chooses to proceed with therapy, we then form a Treatment Plan together based on the assessment, setting goals and determining an appropriate therapeutic approach. From there I will provide Ongoing Therapy utilizing interventions that align with my clients needs and that will be adjusted as therapy progresses. Throughout our sessions, I will monitor and assess progress, address challenges and modify the treatment plan as needed.
