“I have worked with Merry for a year now and she has changed my life. I have seen a few therapists through my teenage years into my young adulthood, and Merry tops all other experiences I have had. She is very attentive and cares deeply for her clients. As someone who felt scared to get back into therapy, due to fear of being matched with someone I didn’t gel with, she made the transition back in very easy for me. She allows me to lead each session in what I want to talk about, but comes in with questions or thoughts that help me focus in on what I want to work on or overcome. She has been my saving grace through my first breakup and transforming into a better version of myself. Not only that, she is incredibly flexible and accommodating to my hectic schedule. And, when I bring up things about my life (career/hobbies) that she is unfamiliar with, she takes the time to research it in order to give proper advice regarding what I’m speaking of. Overall, I could not recommend Merry enough!”

Getting to know Merry Alijoski

My Zocdoc availability reflects private-pay openings for couples therapy. Individual clients with plans I’m credentialed with may have the option to use insurance through Headway after benefits are reviewed. I offer a boutique, personalized therapy experience for high-functioning individuals, couples, and adolescents. I work with clients navigating anxiety, periods of depression, perfectionism, or relationship challenges while balancing significant personal, academic, or professional responsibilities. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and comes from attunement to the client. I approach clients with grounded warmth and thoughtful curiosity, building strong rapport and creating an emotionally safe space for exploration. I use humor naturally when it supports connection, and I am intentional with timing whether supporting clients to move gently forward or allowing silence to deepen insight. I am highly attuned to motivation, pacing, and readiness for change from the moment a client enters the room, shaping each session to fit their needs in a way that feels organic and relationally connected. Network & Fees I accept selected insurance plans for individual therapy only. My promotional rate at this time is: $200 per 53-minute session for out-of-network individual clients $220 per 53-minute session for couples and families. For clients with out-of-network benefits, I use Thrizer to submit claims on your behalf and help estimate potential reimbursement prior to starting therapy. My practice is well suited for clients and families who value depth, discretion, and a tailored therapeutic experience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My work is integrative and flexible, guided by deep respect for each client’s unique inner world. I draw from a range of evidence-based and relational approaches so therapy can be tailored rather than rigid, with the goal of supporting clarity, emotional insight, and sustainable change. In practical terms, my style is thoughtful, inquisitive, and collaborative. I use permissive and explorative questions to help you reflect, make connections, and develop deeper understanding at your own pace. Sessions are intentionally paced, allowing you to speak freely and feel fully heard before I offer insights, new perspectives, or gentle challenges. When I do introduce alternative viewpoints or guidance, it is done with careful attention to your readiness for change. Together, we work toward helping you relate more effectively to yourself and others, better manage symptoms, and experience meaningful relief over time. Therapy is designed to foster emotional flexibility, self-trust, and a renewed sense of engagement with life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

What a Typical Session Looks Like Initial Session The first session focuses on understanding what brings you to therapy. We will discuss current concerns, relevant history, and your goals for treatment. This session helps establish direction and ensures therapy feels supportive and intentional from the start. Individual Sessions In ongoing individual sessions, we typically begin with a check-in about your week and what you would like to focus on during that session. You are given space to speak openly and be listened to without interruption. Sessions are paced thoughtfully and center on processing emotions, experiences, and patterns related to anxiety, depression, perfectionism, or relational stress. Through conversation and reflection, we work toward greater insight, symptom relief, and progress toward your treatment goals. Couples Sessions Couples sessions often focus on conflicts or challenges that have come up since the previous session. Together, we slow down these interactions, process what occurred, and identify recurring patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Sessions include psychoeducation on effective communication, emotional awareness, and relationship dynamics, along with gentle guidance and challenges to help you break unhelpful cycles and reconnect on both an emotional and cognitive level. Overall, sessions are collaborative, structured, and tailored to your individual or relational needs, with the goal of fostering clarity, emotional balance, and healthier connection. Just let me know how you plan to use it.

The provider didn’t see me nor did she send me a link in advance to get in to the zoom call. Close to the appointment me and my partner called around to try and get the link as well as waited to hear from the provider no call back this was extremely disappointing because we had to meet up 2 hours in advance for this appointment and was excited for this session and it was an extreme lack of communication.
