What should a new client know about working with you?

Micah specializes with performance issues in sports, work and academic areas, trauma therapy (EMDR Trained), substance abuse, addictions, grief, body dysmorphia, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, parenting skills, anger management, self-esteem. maladaptive daydreaming, stress, time-management, and related areas. He also specializes in family therapy. As a client, your journey is a true experience that shows the obstacles you experience but will overcome. I want to be the journeyman for your path towards a better future and your wellbeing. I was born into a multicultural community, I provide multicultural therapy approach to sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is a conversation, not a performance. We'll talk about what's been going on, your background (as much or as little as you want to share), and what you're hoping for. Feeling a little nervous is normal, and there's no pressure to have everything figured out before we meet. We'll start wherever you are. After the initial session I use various approaches by what you're carrying. For trauma, I use EMDR — a structured, evidence-based process that uses bilateral stimulation to help your nervous system process experiences that got stuck. For families and relational stress, I draw on Family Focused Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy: we spend time on what's already working and build from there. Sessions are practical and collaborative. We might work through a specific memory, practice reframing a thought pattern, or rehearse a hard conversation.
