Getting to know Dr. Michael Accardo

You are taking steps to answer questions and find solutions to real problems. Many of us navigate systems that were not designed to nourish us, growing through hardships that leave us feeling isolated and overwhelmed. I specialize in helping people—especially those in LGBTQ+ and minoritized communities—understand how therapeutic skills such as acceptance and commitment, interpersonal skills, trauma work, and emotion regulation can be applied to overcome challenges and find liberation. By enhancing your strengths, reworking and relearning coping mechanisms, reframing beliefs about the world and yourself, and enacting mindful behaviors with intention, you can find a way through. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University, which informs my compassionate and evidence-based approach to therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

People benefit from an enhanced perspective and space to sit and process through thoughts and experiences. Additionally, I hope to provide a host of coping skills that will decrease distress with time, increase one's sense of emotional connection and control, and unite an individual's mind, body and intention to provide a meaningful and fulfilling life.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
