Psychotherapist
UT
I am Michael Cooksie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Utah and Indiana. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Salisbury University. I have worked for non-profit organizations, the United States Army both on active duty and as a civilian, and in private practice. I have a strong sense of pride in helping others and deeply value duty and compassion. My approach We are a team. We form a "therapeutic alliance" to work together to establish meaningful goals. Based on your needs, we will develop a focused plan that also allows room for creativity, self-expression, and, often, venting. We will discuss and challenge beliefs that might be limiting you. Together, we will find a way forward that enriches your life and helps you live more happily in accordance with your values. My focus I work with a variety of clients. While I don’t work with couples, I do support people navigating all kinds of relationship issues—from dealing with co-workers to establishing boundaries with friends and family. I work with clients from all backgrounds. My communication style I prefer to maintain a laid-back environment while staying on point with a treatment plan. Just call me Mike, or Michael if you aren’t into the whole brevity thing. My journey to mental healthcare I learned the value of service early on and have spent most of my adult life working in social services for non-profit organizations, as a Soldier in the United States Army, and as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have also led career development programs in Germany and West Point, New York, as a civilian for the United States Army. My goals for you We work together to establish meaningful goals specific to your situation. Through discovery during our sessions, we will develop goals tailored to you. These might focus on reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, improving relationships by establishing healthy boundaries, or pursuing career-oriented objectives.
