“There is not enough space here for all of the positive things I would like to say about Mike, but I'm going to try anyway. Mike is a great listener, is authentic, is not judgmental in any way, and is extremely patient. He will let you vent when you need to, then redirect you when it's not productive. He asks the right questions and has great insight. Most importantly, he will help you create a plan. A real plan towards a better you, that works for you. And, he will keep you focused on that plan.”

Getting to know Michael Denning

Hey, I’m Mike. For the better part of the past decade, I’ve been helping a diverse range of clients overcome their personal challenges and embrace the possibility of a better life. There’s no problem too small to address and therapy is your space to do so. I’m passionate about being an unwavering support to my clients. I encourage communication, reflection, and inspired action between sessions. I’ll never force an agenda, and we’ll work at your pace to set you up for success.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, we’ll begin with a brief introduction. I’ll share some background information about myself, as well as review my policies and procedures to ensure we’re all on the same page. After that, we’ll dive into your background so I can get to know you better. We’ll also discuss why you’re seeking therapy, why now feels like the right time, and what you hope to achieve through the process. My approach is casual, conversational, and relatable. I hope to provide a comfortable environment for my clients to grow, so formality in our space isn’t necessary. I’m also particularly effective in taking complex, abstract theory and explaining it in an understandable, layperson manner. I’m enthusiastic about helping you make change and I encourage open communication, even texting between sessions to help you get where you want to go.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I love working with clients who are not only interested in better understanding their mental health, but who are also motivated to build tools and skills they can apply in their everyday lives. My goal is to help clients develop strategies they can use not just between sessions, but long after therapy ends, so they feel confident navigating challenges on their own. I treat the full spectrum of addiction, including non-substance-related addictions, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, life transitions, and identity exploration.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
