What should a new client know about working with you?

Hi, My name if Michael Elland and I'm a co-occurring disorders therapist that uses an ecliptic approach focused on CBT, Mindfulness, and Solution's focused goal setting therapy. This is a very adaptive approach to make therapy what you want it to be but overall focuses on the present and managing your symptoms and setting goals for what you would like to be different in your life to become your best self. I provide online video services for easy access to client in any part of Nebraska or Iowa. I consider myself to be a nerd and bring this aspect to our therapy sessions with some pop culture references, humor, and casual talk to build rapport and dissolve emotional heights during therapy. Our first session together will be a hybrid of clinical and administrative. We will have to cover the legal jargon and policy and procedure but then will spend time talking about your symptoms and goals for therapy. Between sessions will be some homework of skills, thought review, or thought reframing to work on progressing from your current self to the self you would like to be.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our average sessions will be 50 to 60 minutes in length. During session, we will start with a check in and review of your week and changes in symptoms or concerns. We will then begin to talk about topics and areas that you want to address and reviewing your use of skills and tools. Towards the end of session, we will review new skills or behaviors or ways to continue to work on your goals. Homework will be reviewed that can help you to progress towards your goals. Finally we'll review session, do collaborative documentation, and complete session.
