There seems to be a shifting of realization in our communities that we are not all well-adjusted, emotionally competent, or even as happy as we believe we are. Culturally, we are in a twilight zone where we have so much prosperity; connectivity in the world; and endless entertainment. And yet the rates for crippling anxiety are rising. People are reporting depressed moods and general dissatisfaction with life. Worse yet, we all seem to be looking for answers in our unhealthy relationships; harming our bodies; avoiding our responsibilities; or turning away from those we love. I believe everyone deserves better. I work primarily with adolescents and adults (in either Eng. or Spanish) who have experienced trauma; suffer from anxiety; are stuck in depression; or endorsing apathy about their progress in life. I have training in ART & EMDR (both trauma-focused modalities), Nature-Informed Therapy, and countless trainings in treatment of Anxiety/Depression.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I started my career working as an educator in elementary through high school as a teacher and later school counselor. Learning how to connect emotionally on a professional level is a well practiced skill that I beleive is essential to having a productive therapuetic relationship. Even though we will be meeting virtually, you will find I am able to transmit warmth, empathy, and humor across our screens. This will be a key component of our ability to build trust and learn the power vulnerability as a tool for healing. During our therapy sessions, we will explore issues and challenges you're facing, and create a plan to increase your daily-functioning and overall feeling of competency and well-being. Our work can focus on past traumas and actively change your thoughts/feelings related to those experiences. We will simultaneously address current maladaptive behavior which get in the way of your daily life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After booking, I would send some forms which include a questionnaire about your background and needs and depression/anxiety scales. Our first appointment is an initial evaluation where you will have an opportunity to get to know me and see if my style is a good fit for your needs. I will get to hear your story and learn about what areas you are struggling in your life. Our sessions take place virtually, and we will do a combination of talk-therapy, activities (when appropriate), or possibly use a specialized modality that I'm trained in such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy.
