Hi there, I'm Michael Henning, LISW! I focus on establishing a professional, healthy rapport with clients while helping them with anxiety, coping with depression, suicidal thoughts, and traumas. I work hard to be an ally to the LGBTQ community, having worked with several clients and having friends who are part of the community. My approach My therapeutic approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Collaborative Assessment of Suicidality (CAMS), mindfulness, as well as drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My focus I have experience working with a wide range of people struggling with suicidal thoughts, anxiety, depression, traumas, and many other challenges. My communication style I try to create a welcoming and fun environment that is relaxed for everyone while also staying focused on the issues that bring them to therapy. My journey to mental healthcare I began in college working with people facing various mental health struggles such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and suicidal thoughts. Through this job and the relationships I developed, a passion grew where I now work hard to advocate for and assist others. Education I earned my Master's in Social Work from Minnesota State University, Mankato. My goals for you I speak with clients to understand their goals and desires and try to find a way to accomplish them that is satisfactory to them. My first session with you First sessions are usually meant to gather a person's history, understand what brings them to therapy, and I work hard to give them something to try as they cope with their symptoms.
