Getting to know Michael Lane

I'm an eating disorder therapist (virtual therapy and New York based) and eating disorders can have co-morbidities. As a result, I am also qualified to treat anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, PTSD, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I help clients explore their emotions in order to increase their quality of life. I encourage exploring all of your emotions, especially the one you've been told are "bad" and "shameful". All of your emotions are valid and once identified and explored, recovery can begin.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My role is to meet you where you're at, empower you to make your own decisions, and help you get to where you want to go. I use therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and body image work to help the client get to the root of their problems to avoid symptom swapping of any kind.
