Getting to know Michael Rodriguez

Hi, I'm Michael. With over seven years of clinical experience and a deep understanding of the Hispanic American experience, I am dedicated to supporting young adults in overcoming uncertainty and shedding self-doubt. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, along with a Certificate in Violence Against Women and Children from the same institution. These credentials have equipped me with specialized knowledge to better serve my clients. As a therapist, I bring a unique perspective, drawing from my firsthand knowledge of generational baggage and its impact on individuals and families. I approach therapy with a trauma-informed lens, creating a safe and compassionate space for clients to explore their feelings and experiences. My journey has given me insights into the diverse cultural backgrounds shaping many lives, particularly within the Hispanic American community. I am committed to embracing these cultural nuances, recognizing their crucial role in identity and mental well-being. Together, we will embark on a collaborative journey of self-discovery and growth. I believe each person possesses unique strengths, resilience, and potential for positive change. Through our sessions, we will uncover these inner resources, helping you cultivate empowerment and confidence. My goal is to create an open, non-judgmental environment where you can explore the roots of your thoughts and behaviors. By understanding these patterns, we can see how they have influenced your life and held you back from reaching your fullest potential. As we progress, we will develop personalized strategies and coping mechanisms to address challenges and promote healing. I draw upon evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs and goals. Whether cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, or other modalities, our work will be dynamic and fluid.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Hispanic American therapist with over seven years of clinical experience, I have dedicated myself to assisting adults in navigating the complexities of life transitions and overcoming the barriers of self-doubt. Throughout my career, I have observed firsthand the pervasive effects of generational trauma and the profound impact it can have on individuals' mental well-being. Drawing from my cultural heritage and professional expertise, I employ a holistic approach to therapy that integrates both cultural sensitivity and evidence-based practices. My therapeutic approach is rooted in a deep understanding of the intricate interplay between societal influences, familial dynamics, and individual experiences. I recognize the importance of acknowledging and addressing the generational baggage that may be passed down through family systems, shaping one's beliefs, behaviors, and perceptions of self. Through a trauma-informed lens, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore and confront the underlying roots of their struggles. Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing, utilizing evidence-based techniques to facilitate transformative change. By uncovering the origins of your thoughts and behaviors, we can begin to untangle the web of self-doubt and uncertainty that may be holding you back. Through a collaborative and client-centered approach, we work towards cultivating greater self-awareness, resilience, and empowerment. My goal is to provide you with the tools, insights, and support needed to navigate life's challenges with confidence and clarity. Whether you are grappling with past traumas, navigating significant life transitions, or seeking to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, I am here to accompany you on your journey towards healing and growth. Together, we can unlock your inner strength and resilience, empowering you to embrace a more fulfilling and authentic way of living.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Together, we'll confront and dismantle the societal, personal, and cultural beliefs that have confined us, enabling the emergence of our authentic selves. Our pursuit is to nurture and actualize the version of ourselves that has always been destined to shine.Doing so we will cover several topics such as: Exploration of Fear and Self-Doubt: We'll dive deep into your fears and doubts, understanding where they come from and how they affect you. Identification of Authentic Desires: Together, we'll figure out what you really want, separate from what fear tells you. Development of Self-Awareness: We'll work on getting to know yourself better, focusing on your strengths and values. Cultivation of Self-Confidence: We'll come up with practical steps to challenge your fears and move towards living authentically. Ongoing Support and Guidance: Throughout it all, I'll be here to support you, every step of the way. Overall, the therapy sessions will be focused on helping you break free from the constraints of fear and external validation, fostering self-assurance, and empowering you to embody your authentic self.
