“My boyfriend and I knew we had a strong foundation, but wanted to learn better communication and tools for handling disagreements before moving forward in our relationship. We saw Michael for about four months and he quickly put us at ease with his friendly and calm demeanor. While some of our sessions were more emotionally charged and others were light hearted, we both felt like Michael gave us so many tools and new perspectives. At each session we either focused on a singular issue, or checked in on the topics we brought up in the initial consultation. The practice as a whole was very easy to work with regarding scheduling and insurance. Would definitely recommend!”

“Questions > Answers I’ve worked with Michael for over two years now and it has been nothing but a mitzvah. He asks questions that prompt me to access deep insights while uncovering the subconsciously hidden and ignored. The tools shared in session are my weekly armor and shield while the overtime progress has been crucial to rebuilding my kingdom of self. In short, Mike is the truth and my beating pulse is proof.”

Getting to know Michael Russell

I believe every client is an individual and not simply the sum of their emotions, behaviors, thoughts, life circumstances, or mental health. I approach every individual with authenticity, respect, empathy, and humility. I merely play a role in my clients’ lives; I might be the professional, but the client dictates what they wish to do or adhere to since they are the masters of their lives. For these very reasons, I approach each client where they are and ensure that the goals established and addressed align with their desires. I believe this approach has allowed me to build great therapeutic relationships, strong engagement, and long-lasting results. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support my clients effectively.

Typically takes a few sessions working with a therapist to see if they really are the right one. After the very first session I knew I finally found my perfect therapist. Nobody is perfect, but he is pretty close to it. Working with Michael has been a life-changing experience. His honesty and guidance has helped me through the most difficult times with newfound strength. I'm grateful for the supportive space he provides, and I leave each session feeling empowered and hopeful. Michael Russell is a remarkable therapist, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anybody seeking therapy.
Michael is a compassionate and creative counselor. His approach is solution oriented without being overly prescriptive. Would highly recommend!
Michael is an extremely knowledgeable and effective therapist. He has provided actionable steps that my partner and I have taken to improve our communication and understanding of one another. Apart from being a highly skilled clinician, Michael is also genuine, open-minded, and extremely considerate. I would recommend Michael’s couple therapy services to anyone on a journey to improve their romantic partnerships.
Michael is an amazing therapist! He’s funny, knowledgeable, a great listener and just a really caring person. With Michael’s help I’ve been able to look at things with a different perspective, which is hard because I’ve had the same mindset for years. I always feel comfortable during our sessions. It almost feels like I’m genuinely talking to one of my close friends except this friend just gives amazing advice and knows what they’re talking about. I’ve been able to grow as a person and learn how to set boundaries for myself. I’ve learned how to put myself first for once, which is just so crazy to me because I’ve never been able to do it before . I’m so thankful to have met Michael. I used to let my problems and all these things that were negative control my life. Now I’m in control and learning how to stay in control. Everyone needs a Michael in their life, I highly recommend him!!
I have been working with Michael Russell for 2+ years, and every single conversation I’ve learned something new. His synthesis of my situations, whether that situation is positive or negative, has always allowed me to gain a new perspective on how to approach my day to day. The level of growth that has been gained as far as how I tackle my mental health has allowed me to adapt and make changes in my life for the better. What I appreciate the most is his clarity and understanding, and no matter what the circumstances are, I always feel heard. I would highly recommend Michael to anyone seeking guidance on their mental health journey as he is highly trained professional who brings his education to a level of friendship that is life long.
