Getting to know Michael Stravato

I’m so glad you found me! I specialize in working with teens and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, addiction, trauma, and major life transitions–times in life when people just feel “stuck”. I am particularly drawn to supporting individuals in crisis, and those walking through some of life’s darkest seasons—including serious illness, legal stress, death, trauma, divorce, faith crisis or religious questioning, and what many describe as “dark nights of the soul.” I am also passionate about working with clients in addiction and recovery, offering both practical tools and deep emotional support for lasting change. I help clients with substance use challenges and sex, gambling or food addictions. My 20-plus years of experience as a Therapist have forged in me deep clinical wisdom, steadiness, and compassion for my work with clients.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As an inclusive Christian counselor, I honor clients’ faith or non-faith backgrounds while never imposing beliefs. I view spirituality as a personal resource that can be integrated into therapy when clients desire, always with respect, openness, and care. I help clients who have a strong faith as well as those who are questioning their faith, or who have experienced hurt within their faith community.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A core theme of my approach is helping clients explore meaning in the midst of suffering. I gently guide men and women to reflect on their own values and belief systems—whatever those may be—to help them make sense of what they are going through and reclaim their inner strength. I believe that people are caring and capable, and have within themselves the answers to the challenges they face.
