Getting to know Michele Bowen

With 20 years of professional experience, I have supported clients dealing with stress and anxiety, addictions, trauma and abuse, as well as grief and loss. I work collaboratively with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage, and I am here to support you throughout that process. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Western Michigan University and am licensed in Indiana and Michigan. I am EMDR Certified (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and hold the ACCTS credential (Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist) from the Arizona Trauma Institute. Additionally, I am a CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor) through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals. In my practice, I bring a theoretical framework tailored to the unique needs of each person I serve. My skills include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), co-occurring treatment, IFS for EMDR Therapists (Internal Family Systems), Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, and work with complex trauma and dissociation. Clinically, I am passionate about meeting people where they are, creating a safe space, and working alongside them to achieve their goals. I believe in a holistic approach—mind, body, and spirit—to treating the whole person and honoring each individual’s capacity for resilience and healing with effective support. Nothing is more rewarding than helping others on their journey to live life to the fullest. My approach builds on personal strengths while employing evidence-based practices in a compassionate, ethical, and effective manner. I also enjoy incorporating somatic work, meditation, mindfulness, and light yoga into my practice for those comfortable. Fully immersed in my own holistic self-care journey, I believe in the intentional practice of the tools I share with others.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
