If past experiences still affect how safe you feel, how you relate to others, or how you see yourself, you don’t have to work through it alone. You may feel constantly on guard, overwhelmed by emotions, disconnected from your body, or frustrated that old patterns keep returning. These responses often began as ways to survive. With support, you can build a greater sense of safety and choice in the present. I’m Michele Kitney, MA, LPC, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-I). I work with adults navigating childhood trauma, PTSD and complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and paced with care. I draw on Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I’m currently training in EMDR Level I. Sensorimotor therapy helps us notice how difficult experiences can show up in the body, such as tension, shutting down, or feeling on alert. We use gentle attention to body sensations, movement, and emotions to build grounding and a sense of safety. CBT can help you understand and shift thought and behavior patterns that affect your life. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that can help people process distressing memories. It uses focused attention and bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements or tapping—to support the brain’s processing of difficult experiences. I’m currently completing EMDR Level I training. My background in medical laboratory science and my own experience with postpartum depression also inform the compassion I bring to this work. Upon request, I can offer faith-based counseling. My goal is to help you feel understood, reconnect with yourself, and move toward healing in a way that honors your story.
