Hello, I'm Michele Wiest, MSSW, LCSW. As a licensed clinical social worker, I bring extensive experience working with teenagers, families, adults, and older adults, as well as diverse populations. My journey in social work began with a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University, followed by a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 2002. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, along with providing in-home-based services. My substantial background in hospital/medical social work has allowed me to assist patients and their families through illnesses or injuries, and my experience in hospice care has given me the honor of supporting individuals and their loved ones through the end-of-life process and bereavement. My areas of interest and treatment focus include stress management, life changes, relationship issues, parenting, anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, parent-child relationships, self-esteem, and grief and loss. I take a holistic approach to therapy, incorporating traditional talk therapy, strength-based, trauma-focused, NARM, and mindfulness-based techniques. I believe in treating each patient with compassion, genuineness, creativity, humor, and a non-judgmental outlook. I understand the importance of trust and comfort in the therapist-client relationship and have found that these elements are key to effective psychotherapy.
