“I’m going through one of the hardest seasons of my life, and Michelle has truly been a godsend. From the very first session, she made me feel seen, supported, and safe in a way I didn’t think was possible. She listens with genuine compassion, asks the right questions, and helps me find clarity when everything feels overwhelming. Every session leaves me lighter, more grounded, and with tools I can actually use in real life. I’m deeply grateful for her and her talents. She’s helped me start to rebuild both peace and strength within myself.”

Getting to know Michelle Kwiec

I work with adults who are experiencing the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, relationship problems, or recovery from substance use disorders. If you are looking to make a change in your life and are ready to work at it, I am here to help. I have more than 30 years experience as a therapist and have training in CBT, DBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing, mindfulness and IFS.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am interactive but not directive; I am a partner in your recovery journey. With my science background, I like to provide teaching to help clients understand their symptoms and interventions that work to improve them. I believe that when you understand why something works, you are more open to trying it. I will suggest different approaches that I think may be useful but you always have the option to say, "I don't want to do that!" We will pivot and develop a plan that feels more comfortable for you. I believe it takes time for the relationship to develop and trust to build. I am okay with working at your speed. It takes courage to acknowledge a problem and reach out for help. You are the expert on your life. I am here to listen, understand and, together with you, build a plan to help you reach your recovery goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Initial sessions focus on history taking, assessment and getting to know one another. I typically meet with new clients once per week but am available for increased frequency, if needed. We will work to clarify the nature of the problem bringing you to therapy, discuss your goals and settle on a plan with objectives to help you reach them. Our sessions will run approximately one hour.

I've been going to Michelle for a while and she's helped me tremendously through use of EMDR techniques as well as cognitive behavioral techniques-among others. She is not afraid to call you on any BS, which is refreshing.
Michelle has been my therapist for well over 3 years now. She's been a major contributor to my substantial mental health improvements and continuous growth. I've been endlessly grateful for her patience, vast expertise, and her ability to draw on her own relevant life experiences as a means of creating an open, honest, and safe treatment environment. I highly recommend Michelle to anyone seeking a warm, sincere, and knowledgeable therapist!
I have been a patient of Michelle’s for about two years now and I will tell you, she’s not only been a life changer for me, but a life saver. I am 55 years old and have had many therapist in my life. Michelle and I have made a great connection. She has helped me to find the right tools to help me cope with being bipolar and living life as a recovering alcoholic (17 years sober). I now live a much more “normal” Life. Not only for myself, but for my family as well. We’re are all grateful that Michelle is a part of our lives.
I've been working with Michelle for over a year now and she is excellent. In months, she helped me move past things that I had been trying to work on with other therapists for years. She's attentive, extremely knowledgable, and knows exactly when to push you to dig deep. I can't recommend her enough.
I find Michelle very relatable and easy to talk to. It makes a therapy sessions more like talking to a trusted friend who gives good feedback. I’ve seen a huge amount of benefit to my overall mental health since I started seeing her.
Michelle has helped me through COUNTLESS events and milestones in my life. Truly could not recommend her more. She is rational, real, and empathetic in her approach to patients and has really figured out how best to help me through situations. I am so thankful for her.
