Getting to know Dr. Michelle Lake

Hello! I’m Dr. Michelle Lake, EdD, LMHC - a licensed therapist and qualified supervisor with a doctorate in Organizational Learning and Leadership and over a decade of clinical experience. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for adults, teens, and couples virtually helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges through practical tools and meaningful self-reflection. At Plutonic Therapy, I blend traditional talk therapy with our innovative virtual platform - integrating interactive tools, whiteboards, and calming spaces that make therapy more personal, accessible, and engaging.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work collaboratively with clients to manage anxiety, stress, and major life transitions with greater clarity and self-compassion. Drawing from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness, I adapt each session to your needs - helping you gain insight, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change in your daily life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a 60-minute initial session where we get to know each other, explore your goals, and discuss your history so I can better understand what brings you to therapy. This session helps me build a personalized treatment plan that reflects your needs, preferences, and strengths. In ongoing sessions, I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, and mindfulness, while also blending in creative tools to make therapy more interactive and effective. On our virtual platform, you’ll have access to calming spaces, whiteboards, and worksheets that we can use together to reflect, practice skills, or map out challenges in a more engaging way than traditional talk therapy alone. Each session is collaborative and paced according to your comfort. We’ll check in on your progress, adjust strategies as needed, and ensure you feel supported both during and between sessions. My goal is for you to leave each appointment with greater clarity, practical tools, and a sense of growth you can carry into daily life.
