Psychotherapist
AZ
Beginning therapy and finding a therapist can be a daunting process. You have already taken the first step of looking for a therapist who will be a good fit for you to work with. I believe you are an expert on your own life and experiences. I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma, as well as the different ways people have learned to cope with trauma, including substance use and disordered eating. I take a client-centered and collaborative approach to working together where we will meet you where you are and work on your goals in a safe and supportive way. My approach I use an eclectic approach to therapy. This means that I am trained in various types of therapy that we can pull from while working together. I use mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered, and harm reduction approaches to work together. My focus I work with adults and specialize in working with trauma and have a history of working with substance use. Trauma and PTSD can show up in many different ways for different people. This can include substance use, disordered eating, suicide ideation, and other ways that may no longer benefit you or help you cope in a way that enables you to live your best life. Together, we will create a plan to help you reach your goals and live in alignment with your values. My communication style I value clear and open communication to be supportive and create a non-judgmental environment. I believe the relationship between therapist and client should be a place of safety and you can count on me to actively listen to what you are sharing. My journey to mental healthcare In graduate school, I took electives focusing on helping clients who have experienced trauma. Following graduation, I worked with people experiencing substance use addiction and mental health challenges.
