ME
Hi there, I'm Michelle! My name is Michelle Robbins. I am a licensed professional counselor in Maine and South Carolina. I hold a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. It is my hope to provide you with a space where you can share your thoughts and feelings freely and without judgment, using Cognitive Behavior Therapy and focusing on helping you feel better. My approach CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Person-Centered, Solution-Focused My focus I typically work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety related to history and/or current situations or life transitions. My communication style I am gentle and direct. Clients say they feel comfortable with me because they sense I am genuine and sincerely care about them as individuals. My journey to mental healthcare I enjoy helping people, so I considered nursing or teaching. After research and conversations, I realized those were not for me. I enjoy teaching and helping others, so I asked myself what could satisfy both: therapist. I continue this work because I can play a part in changing a person’s life for the better. I don’t get to help everyone, but often I experience the joy of others when they feel better, more confident, and less depressed. My goals for you First, I find out the most important thing you want to address. Then, together we decide how you want to see things change and the outcome you want. Finally, we narrow down steps to reach that goal, identify barriers, and create a daily task list to reach each step and eliminate barriers. My first session with you An introduction explaining the therapy process and answering any questions. Then I might share a bit about my background and my desire to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment for sharing thoughts and feelings.
