Mike Gibbs, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
My name is Mike Gibbs, and I have been practicing therapy for almost five years. I am a 42-year-old African American male who truly enjoys this work. To me, there is no greater gift than helping someone improve their quality of life, and this desire to help others is what drives me. My strong passion for supporting people ultimately led me to pursue a career in therapy. I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from St. Edward's University. My therapeutic experience includes working with clients facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, substance abuse, and conflict resolution. Currently, I provide therapy through a non-profit organization in Austin, Texas, where I have worked with individuals presenting a wide range of concerns beyond those listed. I have also had the privilege of working with clients from diverse backgrounds, which I consider one of my strengths. I firmly believe therapy is a collaborative process-a journey that both therapist and client take together. In my view, the client is the expert on themselves, and I serve as a guide to help them navigate the best path forward according to their own goals. While I assist clients in identifying their path, it is ultimately up to them to walk it. I am committed to doing everything within my abilities to support clients as they pursue the paths they choose, provided those paths are not harmful to them.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect to leave my sessions with a sense of comfort and trust. I feel that my biggest strength is my ability to build rapport with clients and clients will leave my sessions feeling like they have a therapist who hears them and listens to them. In regards to trust, clients will hopefully leave my sessions feeling that they can trust me to act in their best interests at all times, even if that means having tough and crucial conversations that might seem uncomfortable.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
