Mike Morris, LPC

Psychotherapist
MN
I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) in Minnesota, with over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings. I enjoy working with adults from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. My approach I believe in taking a compassionate, collaborative approach, partnering with individuals in helping them find relief from suffering. I incorporate behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and holistic approaches in my work with individuals. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for young adult males as well as older adult males and females who may be experiencing challenges or life transitions. I am honored to work with those with other gender identities as well. My areas of interest include depression, anxiety, social anxiety, job stress, grief and loss, self-esteem, life adjustment issues, as well as alcohol and substance use issues. I have expertise in working with adults with chronic mental illness as well. My communication style My communication style is calm, open, friendly, and down-to-earth. I prefer to give clients space to express themselves fully while providing validation, guidance, and exploration of how situations, thoughts, and behaviors play a role in how we feel. While I may provide recommendations at times, my role is as your copilot, helping you develop the insight and skills to address and navigate the presenting issues. My first session with you During our first session, we’ll be spending the majority of our time talking about how you’ve been feeling recently. I will be asking questions to gain a better understanding of why you may be feeling that way, as well as gathering some additional history. The first session is about building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and it’s important that I listen first before assuming I know what works best for you.
