Psychotherapist
WA
Hi there, I'm Minna! Deciding to start therapy is a big step. My goal is to provide a supportive environment where you can express yourself, gain insight, and learn tools that can help you feel more in control of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we would identify goals unique to you to help encourage the growth and insight you are seeking. My approach I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help you identify thoughts and behaviors that you may find unhelpful to your situation. I may assign exercises that can help further identify the unhelpful thoughts or help you implement new skills that help you experience more insight and control over your thoughts and behaviors. While working together, I may have a different perspective on the situation at hand. That does not mean that I know more, but that I see it from a different view that may help you find the answer you are looking for and move you towards your goal. My focus I value a client-centered approach. I will engage in actively listening and adjust my techniques as needed to meet you where you are while moving you towards the goals you identify for change. My communication style I value open communication to create a space of non-judgment. I use active listening and provide you with opportunities to reflect on your experiences. My journey to mental healthcare I have always had a fascination with how the mind works. Having grown up in two different cultures, I tend to see different perspectives on a situation. This can help in seeing how upbringing, environment, and culture can influence our thought patterns, as well as it can create unhelpful thought patterns. I began to work at trying to understand how these things influence our thoughts and feelings are expressed. I decided to become a therapist because I noticed that often, helping someone see something from a different perspective is helpful.
