“Dr. Mira is easy to talk to and is my first therapist. Before seeing her, I attended couples therapy, which led me to realize that I needed my own therapist. After doing some research, I am happy to have found her. She is flexible with my schedule, making it easier for me to attend sessions.”

Getting to know Mira Dsouza

Feeling overwhelmed? Life can bring on challenges that are difficult to work through without support. As the daughter of immigrant parents, I understand the complexities of intergenerational trauma. The weight of cultural and societal expectations can take a toll on one's mental health. Family and religious pressure can also negatively affect our identity and self-perception. I believe that no matter what our past has given us or what our future holds, we are capable of working through life's challenges. With a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Midwestern State University and a Doctor of Audiology from the University of North Texas, my goal as a therapist is to help clients embrace their authentic selves and discover new paths of healing and growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I take a person-centered approach to therapy where I place a strong importance on the client-therapist relationship. I want my clients to feel seen and understood. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for those in session through integrative and holistic techniques. I utilize practices that are based on principles of attachment, mindfulness, and self-compassion. I am passionate about inclusion, diversity and de-stigmatizing mental health in minority communities. I take on a social justice lens to help my clients feel empowered in their true authentic self.
