Getting to know Miriam Werzberger

Hi, I'm Miriam, and one of the most rewarding moments in my work is when a parent finally understands what their child has been trying to tell them. Not through words, because kids rarely have those yet, but through their play and behavior. I spent ten years in a preschool before becoming a therapist and learned early that children who get labeled "difficult" are usually working hardest to communicate something nobody has stopped to decode. I bring that same patience into my therapy room now. I get on the floor and learn what your child loves, then let them show me their world before I try to change anything about it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and caregivers navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, phobias, and neurodivergence. With teens, trust has to be earned and I respect that. With adults and parents, I'm warm and practical. Clients of all ages tell me it feels like we're on the same team rather than me talking down to them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I grew up feeling things deeply in a world that treated sensitivity like a flaw. My own therapy taught me it was one of the best things about me, and that experience is why I understand how important it is to feel accepted exactly as you are. You don't need the right words or a plan. Showing up is half the battle. That first step is braver than you think.
