Mirtha Liriano, LSW

Psychotherapist
IL
am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with a master’s degree from Adelphi University and over 10 years of experience supporting individuals and families in underserved communities. Throughout my career, I have worked with clients involved in the justice and foster care systems in New York City, as well as individuals and families in both New York and Illinois. I work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, grief, stress, and substance use. I understand that every person’s story is different, and I believe healing begins by creating a safe space where clients feel heard, supported, and understood. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and strength-based. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and trauma-informed care to meet each client where they are. I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy, so I tailor each session to fit the unique needs and goals of the individual. My passion for social work comes from my own life experiences. As I grew from adolescence into adulthood, I learned the importance of having someone who truly listens, helps process difficult emotions, and offers hope during life’s most challenging moments. Those experiences shaped not only who I am, but also the kind of therapist I strive to be. I believe healing is a journey, not a destination. With consistency, support, and a willingness to grow, meaningful change is possible. My goal is to help clients recognize their strengths, build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and feel empowered to move forward with confidence. My faith has been an important source of strength in my own life. I respect and honor each client’s beliefs and values, and when it is meaningful and desired by the client, I welcome conversations about spirituality as part of the healing process.
