My name is Misha Kerr, and I am an Associate Professional Counselor who is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate life's ups and downs. Growing up comes with many challenges, and sometimes knowing how to manage emotions, handle stress, or work through difficult situations isn't always easy. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe therapy is more than just talking about problems; it's about discovering your strengths, building confidence, and learning skills that empower you beyond the therapy room. Together, we can work toward understanding emotions, developing healthier coping strategies, and creating positive changes one step at a time. You don't have to have everything figured out to get started. Sometimes, taking the first step is where growth begins!

Getting to know Misha Kerr

My name is Misha Kerr, and I am an Associate Professional Counselor who is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate life's ups and downs. Growing up comes with many challenges, and sometimes knowing how to manage emotions, handle stress, or work through difficult situations isn't always easy. I believe therapy is more than just talking about problems; it's about discovering your strengths, building confidence, and learning skills that empower you beyond the therapy room. What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me, you can expect a collaborative, supportive, and client-centered approach that prioritizes making you feel safe, heard, and understood. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in individual, group, school-based, and virtual settings. I recognize that every individual has unique experiences and challenges, so I tailor my approach to meet each client's developmental needs, personal goals, and circumstances. My approach incorporates evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Client-Centered Therapy. I also utilize play therapy with younger clients to help them express themselves, build trust, and explore difficult emotions in a comfortable environment. Together, we will work on understanding emotions, strengthening coping skills, managing stress, and developing healthier patterns of thinking and behavior. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as you are, without fear of judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. Whether you are navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, academic stress, or personal growth, my goal is to help you recognize your strengths, build confidence, and develop practical tools that extend beyond our sessions. Growth takes time, and we will work toward meaningful progress one step at a time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process begins with getting to know each client and understanding their unique experiences, concerns, and goals. During our initial sessions, I conduct an intake and assessment to learn about your background, emotional well-being, and current challenges. This helps me better understand your needs and develop an individualized approach to treatment. From there, we work collaboratively to establish goals and identify areas where you would like to see growth or change. Depending on your age, needs, and preferences, I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Client-Centered Therapy. With younger clients, I may also use child-centered play therapy to encourage self-expression and build trust in a comfortable, age-appropriate setting. Throughout our sessions, we focus on developing practical coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, strengthening communication skills, and building confidence. I also incorporate psychoeducation and skill-building exercises to help clients apply what they learn in therapy to their everyday lives. I believe progress is a collaborative process, and I regularly work with clients to assess their growth, address new challenges, and adjust treatment goals as needed. My priority is to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where clients feel supported, empowered, and comfortable taking steps toward meaningful change.
