Psychotherapist
4007 N Broadway, Ste 212, Chicago, IL
Hi, I’m Mitch. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to navigate things alone. I work with people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship struggles. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, exhausted from trying to hold everything together, or unsure how to move forward. Together, we'll create a space where you can slow down, feel understood, and begin making sense of what you’re going through. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in trauma-informed care. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be fully yourself, without judgment.

Getting to know Mitchel Daniels

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have extensive experience working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community and understand the unique challenges that can come with identity, relationships, and navigating the world authentically. As someone within the community myself, I bring both professional training and personal understanding to this work. I also help clients develop practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, ADHD symptoms, and life transitions. Therapy with me is not just about talking—it’s about building skills, gaining insight, and creating meaningful change in your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each person’s needs. In our first few sessions, we focus on getting to know you—your goals for therapy, your current challenges, and the experiences that have shaped you. I also ask about your strengths, support systems, and what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past. This helps us build a clear understanding of what you’re going through and create a plan together. During ongoing sessions, we typically check in about how you’ve been feeling since our last meeting and what feels most important to talk about that day. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed techniques to help you understand patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to develop practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. Sessions are a supportive, judgment-free space where you can speak openly. Depending on your goals, we may work on skills, explore past experiences that continue to affect the present, or focus on problem-solving and coping strategies you can use in everyday life. My goal is to help you feel understood, empowered, and equipped with tools that support lasting change.
