Getting to know Mitchel Eisenstein

I am a careful, attentive listener who will collaborate with you to help you attain insight into areas of your life that you find challenging, difficult, troubling, or painful. Psychotherapy is a journey in which, through self-examination, you resolve issues, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and become empowered to achieve greater effectiveness, self-expression, and confidence to make your life the way you want it to be. I will work with you to create lasting positive change in your life. We will work together in a confidential, safe environment where you can share your most personal and important issues. You will receive feedback and help to gain insight, relief, coping skills, resilience, tools, and whatever is necessary for you to find and implement a successful, desired resolution. We will collaborate to help you express and understand your emotions in a more effective way. I am an experienced LCSW-R psychotherapist, practicing for 17 years, and I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University, where I graduated in 2007. Even the most difficult situations can improve, and in our sessions, we will work effectively to give you the confidence and skills you need to make your life more workable, feel happier, and be more satisfied. If you are suffering from anxiety, depression, mood swings, anger, grief, uncertainty, relationship problems, or if you are just not feeling right and need assistance and understanding, you can expect to experience transformational and lasting relief through our work together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

We will work together to create insight and skills to deal with and effectively address conditions affecting you. You will be able to resolve problems and achieve the ability to control your inner thinking, outer behavior and develop mindful awareness that creates a mental space from which you see things in a more productive way. I use many different types of therapy such as CBT, Mindfulness, Voice Dialogue, Humanistic, according to which would be most effective in dealing with your unique areas of concern.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will discuss and explore the current issues you are experiencing, addressing the source, and how to go about dealing effectively with them. Then we will go to the core issues you came to therapy about and work on coping skills, resilience, mindfulness and awareness. Together we will work on generating insight and applying this to altering current patterns that would benefit from change. Then you and I will discuss your goals and work to be done between sessions to consolidate the work we have completed. I believe in helping my clients take their therapy to an extremely effective level by providing you with skills you can practice in between sessions to reduce anxiety, relieve depression, reduce obsessiveness, balance your mood, focus your mind, and gain insight. I utilize handouts, homework, and journaling to help you make permanent positive change in your life.
