Molly Zimetbaum, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I’m a LCSW psychotherapist with experience working with adults, teens, and couples in both private practice and community mental health settings. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in psychodynamic, somatic, and relational therapy. I believe that exploring the deeper patterns behind our thoughts, emotions, and relationships can create greater freedom and choice in how we move through our lives. At the same time, I integrate practical, evidence-based approaches—including Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, somatic approaches, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy—to meet each client's individual needs. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where you can feel genuinely understood while also having space to reflect, grow, and consider new ways of approaching yourself and your relationships.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is a collaborative space to slow down, understand yourself more deeply, and make meaningful change. I work with people who may look like they’re doing well on the outside but are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-worth, relationships, or life transitions. My approach is warm, curious, and grounded in both evidence-based and depth-oriented therapies. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck while building practical tools to help you feel more connected, confident, and fulfilled.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically begin by getting to know you—what brings you to therapy, what you’re experiencing now, and the patterns or experiences that may be contributing to your concerns. Together, we’ll identify your goals and develop an approach that feels both meaningful and manageable. As we continue, we’ll explore underlying patterns while also developing practical tools to help you navigate challenges in your day-to-day life. I view therapy as a collaborative process and regularly check in about what feels helpful, making adjustments as your needs and goals evolve.
