You may look like you are holding everything together on the outside while feeling anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or overwhelmed on the inside. Sometimes people come to therapy after years of trying to manage things on their own, only to realize they are tired of carrying the weight alone. I work with individuals, couples, children, teens, and families navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and patterns that no longer feel healthy or sustainable. I also have a deep passion for supporting Spanish-speaking and bilingual clients, as well as those who want faith and spirituality thoughtfully integrated into the healing process. As a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I strive to create a space where clients feel emotionally safe, understood, and genuinely cared for. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique story rather than a one-size-fits-all formula. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches to help clients build insight, emotional resilience, healthier relationships, and lasting growth. I believe people are often more resilient and capable of healing than they realize. Sometimes, having the right support can help you reconnect with the strength and clarity that already exists within you. Sessions are available in English and Spanish, both in person and virtually across Illinois.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, grounded, and genuinely collaborative. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can breathe, slow down, and be honest without feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out. I take the time to understand what you are truly carrying beneath the surface, rather than quickly assigning you a diagnosis or a rigid treatment plan. Together, we work at a pace that feels supportive and realistic for you. If faith and spirituality are important to you, I am comfortable integrating those conversations into the counseling process. If they are not, I will meet you exactly where you are. My goal is to create an environment where you feel respected, emotionally safe, and supported throughout the process. You do not need to prepare the “perfect story” before starting therapy. Showing up is enough.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. I want to hear about what has been feeling difficult, what you have already tried, what patterns keep showing up, and what you hope could feel different moving forward. Early sessions often focus on building clarity and understanding the deeper emotional, relational, or behavioral patterns underneath the anxiety, stress, disconnection, or emotional pain you may be experiencing. From there, we create goals together and begin identifying practical tools and meaningful areas for growth. As therapy progresses, sessions become more focused and active while remaining flexible to your needs. I incorporate approaches such as CBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness based on what fits you best, rather than following a rigid structure. I also check in regularly to make sure the process feels helpful, collaborative, and aligned with your goals. Many clients begin with weekly sessions early on because consistency often creates the strongest foundation for meaningful and lasting change.

More information on payments and coverage

I am in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, and UnitedHealthcare PPO plans. If you have one of these plans, your insurance may cover a significant portion of your sessions. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider ahead of time to understand your specific benefits, copays, and any deductible that may apply. Once you book your appointment, you will receive a call from Dr. Luis San Roman or from me to answer any questions you have and to walk you through the intake forms you will need to complete before your first session. That call is also a great opportunity to ask anything about coverage, fees, or what to expect. Please note that keeping your scheduled appointment is an important part of the therapeutic process. Consistency matters, especially early in the work, and I ask that clients honor their commitment to the time we have set aside together. If you need to reschedule, please do so as early as possible so we can find another time that works. If you have questions about payment or coverage that are not answered here, do not hesitate to reach out before booking. I want the practical side of starting therapy to feel as straightforward as possible so you can focus on what matters most.
